Mitzi Chua is a Professor and the current Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, Cebu Institute of Medicine. She is also affiliated as an Infectious Disease Specialist in several major hospitals in Cebu.
Professor Chua obtained her MD from the Cebu Institute of Medicine, before completing her training at Cebu (Velez) General Hospital and fellowship at the University of the Philippines (UP) – Philippine General Hospital. Subsequently, she obtained her master’s degree in health professions education at the UP National Teaching Training Center for the Health Professions.
Professor Chua is actively involved in various professional societies and is past President of the local/regional chapters of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (PSMID) and the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP). She is also a fellow of the PCP, PSMID, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Additionally, she sits on the board of the Asia Fungal Working Group (AFWG), an International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM) working group.
